'My Bad Beat Jackpot Story'
My friend called me first thing in the morning to ask me to go to the card club with him after work.
I agreed to go. Then the so called "friend" called me at quitting time to tell me he had
changed his mind. I berated him for getting my hopes up, and like the good friend he is he relented
and went with me to the card club. He would generally loose at texas hold'em, so like the blind
leading the blind I told him of the top ten starting hands
(ala - Phil Hellmuth), and how he should be patient to win. Well this so called "friend" sat
at the same 2/4 limit table as I did so I had to take my own advise and doing so only played the blind hands
for more than a half hour. Then it happened. I got my first Ace / Paint cards of this very short evening.
NO it was not a top ten hand but I felt >compelled to play My
Ace - Jack offsuit anyway, after all if it didn't pan out I could always muck em on the river and my good friend
would be none the wiser. The flop came AAJ. I was in the eight seat the guy in the #6 seat bet out just two seats
left of the dealer button. I called hoping to get some action. This was not to be as everybody else folded. The
turn was a 6 and my new found friend in the #6seat bet again. I called again hoping to win at least 10 or fifteen
bucks off this monster hand. The river was another 6. My friend in the 6 Seat bet another 4 bucks. I raised and he
re-raised. I raised him back with my nut full-house. and he re-raised. My hopes soared and I re-raised, was raised
back and so on till all of my money was in the pot.(heads up you can raise till some one is all in). Although I played
out of turn i showed first. and was rewarded with the sight of my momentary best friends pocket sixes. I had just won
the bad beat poker jackpot. A cool 15 grand. Ironically as I celebrated the quad sixes guy told me to stop celebrating as he
had quads and quads beat a full house. He didn't know about the bad beat jackpot. We all filled him in and my true
friend in seat 3 went home with 1000+ table share, and the stranger with quads took home 7 grand +. and 1000+ that
is my bad beat story. My apologies to you Phil ;-)
